Older adults' aerobics (Recycled Teenagers)

These low-impact aerobics, or keep-fit, classes are perfect for anyone who likes aerobics and wants to enjoy a lower intensity class in a fun and lively environment. The combination of low-impact dance-style aerobics, with stretching and toning exercises, makes these classes excellent for people who want a workout for their whole body and brain.

Classes begin with a ten-minute warm up, using simple moves such as side-steps and knee-lifts. This is followed by 20 minutes of dance-based low-impact aerobics that is a little faster so you get to give it a bit more welly! The choreography is designed to build and maintain the connections between your brain and body, whilst being simple enough for anyone to pick up. Finally, we do some gentle toning exercises with resistance bands (stretchy elastic bands), followed by some stretches and a slow dance-style cool down. You can choose whether to do the toning and stretch sections on the floor, sitting in a chair, or standing up. All the exercises are fully adaptable, which means you get to work at your own level throughout.

If you have any specific requirements during the class then please have a chat with me. I am qualified to teach older adults and people with common medical and orthopaedic conditions, as well as to receive referrals from medical practitioners and I can tailor any of the exercises to your specific needs.

The class is set to a fun and uplifting soundtrack that includes music from all eras. The classes are really sociable, and we spend a fair bit of time chatting before and after we exercise. This is an added bonus as it means your heart and lungs get even more of a work out!

Whether you’ve been exercising your whole life, or you’re a complete beginner, these older adults', low-impact aerobics classes, or 'Recycled Teenagers' classes (as those who come to them have named them), are a great way to socialise, exercise, and energise your whole body and mind!

Available as:
  • Face-to-face classes at Alveston Youth Centre

  • Prerecorded classes available 24/7 with the On-Demand Studio weekly membership

Useful information

Booking is essential as numbers are limited. Click here to book your session.

Classes run on a pay-as-you-go basis, so you only pay for the sessions that you book. If you need to cancel, you must give 24 hours notice or you will still be charged. You can buy a block of 6 classes if you want to, which you can use in any of my Recycled Teenagers classes and there’s no limit on when you have to use them by.

Due to Coronavirus, I am no longer able to provide you with equipment. You will need your own mat/towel to lay on if you're going to go down to the floor for the floor section. If you prefer to stand or use a chair you don't need a mat and can use one of the chairs at the hall as these can easily be sanitised.
